The KAHO'OKANE PROJECT is an after-care treatment program offered by Hui Malama to adult males who have completed, or are in the stages of completing a substance abuse treatment program. The framework of this program was developed through collaborations between Hui Malama and other health-care, and educational entities.
SERVICES INCLUDE;
Alternative after-care treatment for adult men in recovery
Vocational rehabilitation and training referrals
Medical assistance through partnerships with existing health-care agencies
Individual health-screening
Cultural education
Basic seamanship training on single and double hulled canoes
Opportunities to fulfill mandated community service hours
This program provides support to youth between ages 13-18 who are at-risk for substance abuse. Double-hulled canoe sailing philosophies and practice provide the framework for this program.
